Common causes of intersection vehicle accidents

As a driver, there is no way to avoid intersections. At some point, regardless of where you are traveling, these will come into play.

You need to take extra caution as you approach and leave an intersection. Here are some of the most common causes of vehicle accidents in these areas:

-- Turning with obstructed view

-- Inadequate surveillance

-- Illegal maneuver

-- False assumption of another driver's action

-- Misjudgment of speed or gap between vehicles

-- External and internal distractions

-- Performance error

-- Aggressive driving

All of these circumstances can cause an accident at an intersection. While you can prevent some of these, such as by the decisions you make, there is no guarantee that others will take the same approach.

For example, you could be sitting at a red light as a person approaches the intersection behind you. If they are not paying attention, you could be struck from behind.

Another example of this would be a person who fails to stop at a traffic signal. When this happens, this person could strike one or more vehicle that is traveling legally through the intersection.

The more you know about common causes of intersection vehicle accidents, the better chance you have of avoiding trouble. However, you can never fully guarantee your safety.

If you are involved in this type of accident, call for medical help and then learn more about the crash itself. If you find that another person was responsible, you may be able to file a lawsuit with the intention of receiving compensation for your injuries and other damages.
