Like many people, you may find yourself driving in rush hour traffic almost every day of the week. As frustrating as it may be, you can't let your emotions get the best of you. Instead, you need to do whatever it takes to drive safely.
Here are several tips that can keep you safe when you find yourself in the middle of rush-hour traffic:
- Be patient. Being impatient isn't going to make the traffic move any faster, so you might as well take a deep breath and remain calm.
- Eliminate all distractions. You never want to become distracted when you're behind the wheel, but this is easy to do when traffic is crawling. Make sure you keep your eyes on the road at all times.
- Pick a lane and stay there. It sounds like a good idea to jump from lane to lane, trying to beat the traffic. Unfortunately, this isn't going to get you to your destination any faster. Furthermore, it increases the likelihood of an accident.
As you make your way through rush-hour traffic, you may notice other drivers who aren't following the rules of the road. You need to keep an eye on these people, as they are the ones who could easily cause an accident.
If you're part of a rush-hour traffic accident, such as one in which your vehicle is struck from behind, move to safety and call for help. Depending on the severity of the crash, you may need to seek immediate medical attention. From there, you can learn more about filing an insurance claim and seeking compensation from the negligent party.
