On-the-job injuries and fatalities

As somebody who goes to work everyday of his or her life, you realize how important it is to remain safe at all times. This is particularly true if you work in a historically dangerous industry, such as construction or warehousing.

An on-the-job injury or fatality can happen at any time. Just when everything appears to be going as planned, an accident can pop up that impacts one or more workers.

Some of the most common types of on-the-job injuries include:

  • Back and neck
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spinal cord trauma
  • Burn injuries
  • Loss of vision or hearing
  • Repetitive motion conditions, such as carpal tunnel
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Occupational diseases
  • Psychological conditions

Along with all of these injuries, the most serious accidents can result in death. An example of this would be a construction worker who falls from a roof or scaffolding, or someone who is struck by a vehicle.

At our law firm, we know that every workplace has the potential to be the site of an accident. Unfortunately, many workers are injured and killed every year as the result of a simple mistake or negligence.

If you have suffered a workplace injury or a loved one has passed on as the result of an on the job accident, it’s time to learn more about your legal rights. While the workers’ compensation system is far from perfect, you may be able to receive money for your injuries or the death of a loved one. If nothing else, you may want to learn more about the system and where you fit in.
